The Eureka Tower, in the centre of the photograph, commemorates an incident during the goldrush when police stormed a miners' camp and killed a number of them, who had barricaded themselves in to protest against harsh government taxes.

The Rod Laver and HiSense arenas, home of the Australian Open Tennis.

The Yarra river and Flinders Railway Station.
I had intended to get my bearings by travelling around on an Open-Top bus, but luckily I discovered the Melbourne Visitor Shuttle, which takes more or less the same route and costs 30 dollars less! Also we had a real person telling us about tge stops, rather than a voice through earphones.
The first stop I reached was the MCG. No chance of a taking a tour, because a cricket match will start there tomorrow.

Everywhere on the circuit were interesting places to visit, which I hope to do on Tuesday.

Perhaps the Victoria market....

Or the Melbourne Star Wheel.
A boat trip on the river sounds enticing.

Lots to do and see.
