Day 1: Dubai

My holiday begins in Dubai, where almost everything seems to be shiny and new from the brand new airport terminal to the newly constructed metro system. Even tge cars all seem to be new! Our guide Assad told us that cars all have to pass an MOT every year and from 10 years on it is made more and more difficult for cars, even in good condition, to pass the test.

I am staying at the Conrad Dubai, on the 29th floor, from where I can see this view.

Not very interesting I agree! However, I do have a view of my room from the bathroom.

In the afternoon we set off on a visit around Dubai, arriving first at the beach.

Later we visited the world heritage site Al Bastakiya where a vestige of tge origial Dubai still exists on the opposite side of the creek from all the skyscrapers.

The tower acted as an air-conditioning system!

Later we crossed the creek on an abra, a traditional water taxi like this one.
